UMtube Basics

Getting Started

• UMTube is located at: http://umtube.umasd.org (Link only works at school)
• UMTube is for educationally appropriate, school-related videos (but see the full Terms of Use (link only works at school)
• The UMTube site and embedded video only work over the school's network
• UMTube is a great alternative for teachers who don't want to worry about multiple student videos in their Teacher DropBox or on their laptop
• Uploading to UMTube: the Hand-in and Hand-back Robots automatically detect video files and ask whether you wish upload rather than hand-in or hand-back
• Teachers are automatically notified by e-mail when their students upload to UMTube
• Uploaded videos do not go live until the next school day to give teachers a chance to preview them

Troubleshooting

• I can't see my video!
  • Videos only work over the school's network. Neither videos nor the UMTube website is available from home
  • Videos uploaded to UMTube do not go live until the next school day to give teachers a chance to preview them
  • Are you sure you uploaded to UMTube rather than just handing in to the Teacher's DropBox?

• How do I know when my students have uploaded to UMTube?
  • Teachers are automatically notified by e-mail when their students have uploaded to UMTube, and are given a chance to preview the videos

• What if I want a video deleted from UMTube?
  • Contact Mr. Mont in E-103

• Can I upload anything to UMTube?
  • Students must choose a teacher to upload under, so it is best to check with that teacher first about appropriateness
